PING appointed by City of Sydney to reimagine ‘What’s On’
We’re excited to announce that PING and our design partner, Canvas, have been appointed by the City of Sydney as their partner for the redevelopment of the iconic online events guide, What’s On.
What’s On is the go-to resource for discovering what’s happening across Sydney—from music and theatre to art, food, community events, and more. As a long-standing platform with a broad public audience, it plays an important role in the cultural life of the city.
The District Group (PING & Canvas) team has been engaged to redesign and rebuild the website, with a focus on creating a more user-friendly and future-ready experience. That includes rethinking how events are structured and presented, improving performance, and delivering a platform that supports accessibility, usability, and long-term maintainability.
“The City of Sydney putting their trust in us to reimagine and transform this iconic website is a huge honour for our team,” said Tim Stokoe, Founder and CEO of PING.
"We’ve always believed that the best digital work means creating something that is not only functional and technically sound, but also user-friendly, on-brand, and crafted with meticulous attention to detail. So, helping the City of Sydney deliver a better experience for locals and visitors alike is a challenge we’re excited to take on.” Tim added.
Our approach will focus on clarity, flexibility, and stability—backed by the best-fit and most robust technical architecture and foundations. Our aim is to deliver a platform that works not just on day one but continues to support the city and its communities well into the future.
We’re looking forward to sharing more as the project progresses. In the meantime, visit the current site to plan your next Sydney adventure.
